We have come in Monastiraki and found in front of the metro station Nikos, a guy who is playing his music. Let’s go and meet him. - Hello Nikos. I want to ask you how long have you been playing music and what kind? - I play music for almost 20-21 years. In general I orient myself mainly in blues, rock, Jazz and in these timbres. Obviously I like them very much. - How long are you playing in streets? - I am playing in the streets almost 5-6 months. I can’t say that I like it. Generally, I like playing music in the streets, that’s not my issue, but the problem is that there are many crazy people around here that disturb me and I go to the police almost everyday . So that’s my problem. - Are you going to the police because they are disturbing you and there is a tension or for another reason? - Yes, because of that or because I punched someone or because someone tried to stole my money and obviously I defended myself or because there are many junkies and so on. Moreover there are some cops who are very quarrelsome and they attack to the seemingly weak guitar player in order to boost their egoism. Just because I’m holding a guitar and not an axe they are trying to kick me out. All those things are annoying and because I’m not 20 years old anymore, I don’t have the strength to find another place to play. When I play here I don’t want to go anywhere else. However, this phase is good, I meet a lot of people and there are many businesses here. - What do you want to achieve with all that? Are you here because you are in need of money or for another reason? - Definitely it’s a form of freedom to know that there are money out there everyday and you can just go and take them. If you feel like it. - Are you earning money from the streets? Is there any response from the people? - Oh yes, there is. - With the money that you earn, are you able to pay for your expenses? - Yes, absolutely. - Last question, where can we find you? - I play in some bars. We are playing folk music, American folk, like Bob Dylan’s music. - Nice! Thank you very much. - Thank you. Bye!
